PUSH THE SKY

At the time of painting this it was my largest piece and the first time of using block board instead of canvas. I have always found canvas to be too unpredictable over a certain size, especially at very uneven aspect ratios. The timber of a large stretched canvas can distort after being exposed to water, and I use a lot of water in my work.

My brief for this piece was to create a big dramatic foreboding sky, but one that gave a great sense of hope, the clarity after the storm you might say.
